Location Criteria

VERBIO North America is interested in developing renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities throughout the continental United States. A viable location will meet all of the following criteria:

  • 80 to 100 acres, eligible for heavy industrial zoning designation
  • Access to 250,000 to 500,000 tons per year of cellulosic crop residues such as corn stover, wheat straw and immature cover crops, within a 50 to 75 mile radius
  • Access to medium or high capacity, but low pressure, natural gas transmission or distribution infrastructure
  • Access to 15 to 20 Megawatts of electric power
  • Access to 150 to 250 million gallons of freshwater or graywater per year
  • Access to highway infrastructure and preferably rail
  • Strong community and governmental support

Distressed bioethanol and biodiesel plants meeting these criteria are also very attractive candidates for future RNG plants.
